This page explains what DR4 Checker stores when you use it. In short: you don't need an account, there are no ads, and the only analytics is Ahrefs Web Analytics, which sets no cookies.

## Websites you check

The domain names you enter are sent to Ahrefs' Domain Rating API to get their DR4.

Each website's rating is then kept for 12 hours, filed under a scrambled form of its domain name, so anyone who checks it in that time gets it without asking Ahrefs again. What's kept isn't linked to you.

DR4 Checker also counts how many times each website has been checked, with its latest ratings and when it was first and last checked. Like the ratings, this count isn't linked to you.

## Limits and your IP address

To keep to the limits of 20 websites a minute and 50 a day for each visitor, checks are counted by IP address. The counts are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form, and are deleted after a day at most.

## Cookies and storage

DR4 Checker sets two cookies it needs to work: a session cookie, and a security token (XSRF-TOKEN) that protects the checker's form. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.

The session also records your IP address and browser type. It expires after 2 hours without a visit, and is deleted some time after that.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in an appearance cookie and in your browser's local storage.

## Analytics

To count visits, the site loads Ahrefs Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.

For each page you view, and each check you run, it sends Ahrefs the page's address (which, after a check, includes the websites you checked), the page you came from, your browser's languages, and your screen's size. A check also sends how many websites it covered, how many got a rating, or the error it met. Like any request, it reaches Ahrefs with your IP address. Ahrefs' privacy policy is at ahrefs.com/legal/privacy-policy.

## Server logs

Like most websites, the server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the page you asked for (including the websites in a shared results link), the time, and your browser type. They're used to keep the site running and to stop abuse, and are deleted after 14 days.

## Cloudflare

The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles every request to protect the site and speed it up, and processes your IP address and request details to do so. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

## Email alerts

If you ask to be emailed when a website's DR goes up, DR4 Checker keeps your email address, that website and its latest DR4. Nothing is sent until you confirm from the first email; if you don't confirm within 7 days, your address is deleted.

Once you confirm, the website is checked with Ahrefs once a day, and you get an email each time its DR4 goes up. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, which deletes your address for that website.

Your address is only used for these emails. It's never sold or shared, except with the service that delivers the emails.

## Accounts

You don't need an account to check a Domain Rating. If you create one, your name, email address and a hashed password are kept until you delete the account in its settings.
